Beaches

I love the beach! We went to Spalding Beach for a Varsity Club picnic today. It's on a lakefront, so it's not near as good as the ocean, but still! I got dragged into the water and it was COLD!!!! And we reenacted the Beaches of Normandy. :) The guys dug this huge trench, like 4 feet deep, 4 feet wide, and 20 feet long, and all the sand they took out of the hole they put between the trench and the water. Then they brought in sticks and dead limbs, and made guns and fences out of them, and those pointy things that stick out of the ground toward the enemy. And tehy had this huge limb planted in the sand and tied a towel to it for our flag. Then we made grenades out of frisbees, shoes, and empty soda cans filled with sand. And we had stick swords and stuff. Then we divided into groups and one group would defend the trench while the other attacked from the water. We had medics and everything, with shirts and stuff for bandages. So the people from the water would run up toward the trench, and the people in the trench would launch grenades toward the enemy, and we had people assigned to die or be wounded each time. Then we'd switch who was where and do it again. It was hilarious. Our history teacher was getting into it, and he stuck this stick in the sand with some brush on top and set it on fire and everything. Man, it was funny. So we re-did it like 8 times with everyone switching roles. My favorite was defending the trench. The first time I did, I was supposed to be the first one to die, so I just kinda fell back on the sand, and this one guy was like, "Nooo! Whyyyy?!?!" It was funny. Then this guy on the other side of me (who is really hott and had nice abs, by the way) was blasted by a mortar shell or something, and he literally THREW himself back on the sand and landed with his feet at the same level as my head. It was funny. Oh yeah, and we were all talking in German. Actually, we just made noises that sounded German. :) And we had commanders, and they would yell at the top of their lungs and be like, "Take the beach! Defend our freeeeedommmm!" It was great. Oh, and then we had head-on attacks. I stabbed a couple of guys with my "sword" and came out victorious. Then the next time, we in the trench all planned out who would attack whom, and we came out with a frontal assault before they could reach the trench. My person was the same guy who had launched himself from the trench earlier (the hott one), and I ran up and tried to grab his shoulders and whip him around to fall on the ground, but it kinda backfired cause he's really strong, and I ended up getting a mouthful of sand and getting shot. So I died. It was funny. So yeah. That was the best thing EVER! We are so creative. Yes.
